Hi,
The error message tells you, you can’t edit the invoice because payments are made against it. Simply delete the payments and make the edits you like, then re apply the payments.
Hope that helps
Pete

  1. can't delete the payment as I have already filed tax return... is what it says...

Have you filed that tax return?
  3. There is no VAT on the invoice, but the vat return for that would have been submitted.
  4. If there is no final payment to close of an invoice like that - whats the best way to record it?

    * If you're registered for VAT everything should have a VAT charge.
If there is no VAT payment at all on these invoice then do the following.
Click tax and make the relevant tax period as unpaid.
    Edit your invoice as above.
Click on tax and make the relevant tax period as paid.
Credit notes would be a way of doing it, technically you're not meant to edit invoices, what's what estimates are for. One is an invite to price and the other is the price.
    Hope that helps.

  6. I just checked and there is Vat on the invoice - I understand what you are saying about charging the vat ( we provide training and that is vat 0%) and also work with clients in UK where the Vat is 0%.
  7. Going back to the situation of an old invoice which has Vat on it and the there is a balance to be written off - should a credit note ne used?
  8. sorry for all the questions - Just looking at a few old invoices that may not be settle and wondering the easiest way to write them off...thanks

Cool, sometimes people hear mad stuff. Nearly everything has VAT even 0 VAT is a VAT rate of 0.
I think the best thing for you to do is issue credit notes, here is some more info about credit notes and how to create one.

    Hope that helps.
