Hi Folks, I didn’t know this feature existed! So… following on from last thread on invoices/quotes/stmts not being sent to me when I’m marked to be copied. This is a new issue and I don’t believe it’s my email client. When I check my account on via webmail on the server, the mail is not being sent. Also, when I create a test quote and send it to someone else, they’re not receiving them??

Hi Cormac,
Didn’t we talk before about invoices not getting sent, last year?

  1. I have just tried to send a test email via BulletHQ and it failed to send. I have not changed any of my email account details?! i.e. password, etc...
  2. The problem last year were clients were claiming they weren't receiving invoices. This occasionally still happens. But this issue relates to me posting invoices/quotes/stmts out from BulletHQ, being marked as cop me and not receiving the email back.

Cool, I just sent you an invoice there did you get it. I've received it.
  4. I think the source of this problem is the email server settings in BulletHQ. I have just checked the credentials for the mail server using the password in front of me in Bullet and it tests fine. However the "send test email" in Bullet is failing???

    Hi C,
Can you just check that you got the test invoice that I sent you please?
    Pete
  6. Yes, I've just received and read it
  7. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
Cool - did you open it up so I can get a read receipt here. Thanks
  8. I've just opened it now in the browser
  9. any ideas why these server settings are failing? could something on our hosting be suddenly blocking this?
  10. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
    Hi C,
So, we send a bucket load of invoices a month like probably 30-100k for the likes of Adverts.ie. If our service failes 1,000 of people will be onto us.
As you can see I sent you a test invoice and you/I received it.
Tech has had a look though and come back with this.
"So Cormac has set up his own email server settings - so its not going through our mail server. I can see "Mail Server connection failed" errors in our logs. So my guess is that something is wrong with his email server settings".
Why are you creating your own mail server and not using gmail business apps?
    Pete
  11. Hi Pete. The starnge thing is this was working perfectly like a week ago... and now it doesn't!! can texh at least see where the breakdown occurs? I need to send account mails through my business address, not a gmail accoiunt
  12. ps. the clients not getting invoices is kind of a different issue here. Since we last spoke about this I've found that that some of our clients who claimed to have not received Bullet invoices were having these mails being put into their SPAM folders. I note these cleinst from now on and just forward them a copy of their invoice in pdf form from my own mail account.

    Hi Cormac,
You're using your own mail server so we can't see the issue. The issue for us is it's hitting your mail server and falling from that point on.
Yep, when you setup business apps you can use your own url. We use it and everything is under Bullethq.com.

  14. okay thanks for the tip. I'll look into this now. I'll have to get on to letshost and test this problem further
  15. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
    Hi C,
Must be an email setting. Might be worth moving to Google then testing the current setup. Here are our stats 97.2% delivery that's pretty high, and that's probably from bounced accounts, you can see our rejected (red) is almost zero.
So the spam filter is probably someone's who's personally configured their own spam filter. Even on Google personal accounts we get delivered and don't get filtered into promotional.
  16. Pete, I know you discussed this with me before but (before I press the red button) what are the benefits of me moving bammedia.ie over to Google business apps?
  17. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
We wouldn't have spent the last 43 minutes onto me You'd be high fiving Larry & Serge!
Why have that hassle in your life, invoices not sent etc etc. I think it's free for the first 5 accounts and any email client is going to work with it.
  18. how does moving your email/domain management over to Google, make things easier in BulletHQ land?
  19. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
Cause managing that tech is core to their business and not core to us. We want to focus on customers and value to customers, but know that mail is always being sent.
We also use Google Doc's, Sheets etc. Never have anything local.
  20. Sounds great! We might end up switching over. In the meantime, can you ask your tech team for their IP that the email settings tries to route to? I've just been on to Letshost.ie and they need an IP to check Firewall blocks etc... on thei end. If there's any other info regarding BulletHQs email setup would be beneficial
  21. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
    Hi C,
    I think it might help.
Sure I've just asked them now.
    Pete

    Hi Cormac,
So the error we're receiving is " SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" . The port we attempting to connect with is "25" which is what you configured in your email server settings. Our IP address is 91.103.1.178 - which is attached to domain name accounts-app.bullethq.com
  23. Hi. Thanks. should I be using a different port number now?
  24. bearing in mind, this all worked perfectly last week
  25. and the same credentials are testing fine on my own Outkook
  26. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
No, the port number should be what lethosts.ie tell you to use, its thats 25 thats fine.
  27. Okay, thanks. I'll raise a ticket with them and see if there's a firewall block or something preventing this.
  28. Peter Connor November 14, 2015
Cool. I'll close this call. But, if you've any more Q's you can just click (?) and we'll jump in.
    Tks C.
