Hi, I’m just testing bullet and I noticed a few things in relation to: – bullet doesn’t seem to create correct invoices for EU customers. VAT is added even so no VAT should be charged (setting the VAT to 0 on the invoice is not option as Revenue requires you to record the VAT rate that would be applicable here) – VAT3: I like the way you can create a file to ROS for uploading but how can I see the breakdown if I wanted to submit the VAT3 manually? This would also allow me to verify if VAT3 was done correctly. – VAT3: Sales to EU countries aren’t recorded correctly (it seems). They don’t appear in the ES1 etc fields. VAT RTD: how can I create a VAT RTD? Apologies for all these questions. Thanks

Hi. I’m not sure Bullet is for you. We’ve built it to automate as much as possible for people who don’t want to learn or care about accounts.
So if your into tweaking your accounts Xero is probably better for you. I don’t mean that in a negative way, but we’re all about automation and no thinking accounts.
To answer your questions.

  • We don’t do VAT RTD returns which are the EU returns. They will need to be
  • We fully automate the VAT3. Upload and forget!

Sorry it’s not the answers you want, but Xero is a good traditional product.
Thanks Pete

  1. Hello Peter,
Appreciate the super-fast response. Seeing that everyone who's registered for VAT needs to submit the RTD at the end of the year and that I need proper accounting for trading with businesses in the EU I would agree with you that bullet isn't for me. Could you please delete my account and ensure that all my data is removed from the system.
Again, I like many things I have seen in bullet but it might just be a bit too 'easy' for me.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Sure, community's important to us. We don't do help-files or videos just quick answers to questions.
    Will do.
Just to let you know Bullets the same spec as Xero. The difference is we've built the accounting logic into the workflows, Xero and others haven't.
That's why it looks simple, all the ledgers are hidden behind smart workflows, it's our first step to full automation.
You can calculate VAT RTDs in Bullet but we don't automate it.
Xero also doesn't do VAT RTD, in fact it does very little for Irish accounts you have to shoe horn items in, so be aware of than. But it's very manual, ledgers etc.
Your account will be deleted at 12am tonight. Thanks for checking us out and hope you find a good product for your needs.
    Take care Pete.
  3. Thanks Pete,
Understand what you are doing there - accounting can be a bit frightening. By using a terminology everyone can understand you are making it less scary. So, I think your approach is very good.

I for myself will stick with sageone for the moment. But I'll keep an eye on bullet and might give it a go again in the future.

All the best to you and your team.
    Kind regards,
    Peter
